I have just finished my first official week working at Macy’s and I am so happy to finally have a job that I care about and enjoy. For a lot of people, the struggle is real for finding a job, and actually liking the work that you do. After about a month of applying to jobs in this competitive job market, I was beginning to feel hopeless at the fact that so many places were hiring, yet I wasn’t good enough. After hearing back from Macy’s and being offered the job I was so excited and couldn’t wait to start a fun new job for the summer.
I’ve had my share of work experience over the past few years and not being happy with the work that I do. But after applying to work for one of my favorite stores, I know I made the right decision. I am grateful for the opportunity to spend my summer being exposed to so many types of clothing and styles, and being able to work with clothes every day. While it is still retail and requires working with the public, it always has its frustrating moments that can really grind your gears, but overall I haven’t been this happy about a job before.
For being a broke college student, I consider myself lucky to be surrounded by a positive and fun work environment for the summer to earn some type of salary. With two more months left of my summer before heading back to school, I am looking forward to the rest of my time working for Macy’s.
