Now that I am done with school, I feel like I have so much more time on my hands to start reading again. When I was in school I had a crazy amount to read already from all my class textbooks on top of my homework, projects, exams, work, and all my other responsibilities that I felt like I never really had time to read just for fun. I would always read books during the summertime or on vacations but would never have the time to during the school years or anytime else really. But now that I am done with school for good, I’ve tried to make it a goal to read more regularly now that I have the time to!
I recently finished reading Rachel Hollis’ book Girl, Stop Apologizing, and immediately wanted to share it on my blog because it is SO inspiring and motivating. I feel like it’s one of those books that everyone needs to read to help stay motivated to achieve any big goal or dream of yours that you may have and to go at with confidence.
A little bit of background first, for those who don’t know about Rachel Hollis, she is one of the most popular motivational speakers in the world, runs her own business as a lifestyle influencer, and is a married mother of 4 kids and has worked insanely hard to get where she is today.
The purpose behind Girl, Stop Apologizing is to motivate and inspire women to go after their goals confidently and shame-free. She provides SO many experiences from her personal life that have helped her achieve her goal of running her lifestyle influencer business and motivational speaking that are so inspiring for anyone looking to achieve one of their own goals. Whether your goal may be to run a marathon, start your own business, put yourself on a diet, exercise more, whatever your goal may be, she identifies, as stated in her intro, “The excuses to let go of, the behaviors to adopt, and the skills to acquire on the path to growth, confidence, and believing in yourself.” (Rachel Hollis).
As I was reading her book, I stopped and thought to myself so many times how inspiring her book was and how it really was motivating me to work hard toward my own goal I have for my blog as well. One part of the book that I found particularly important was her concept of 10, 10, 1. Her concept of 10, 10, 1 is, simply put, “10 years, 10 dreams, 1 goal. Who do you want to be in 10 years? What are the 10 dreams that would make that a reality for you? Which one of those dreams are you going to turn into a goal and focus on next?” (Rachel Hollis). This really stood out to me because I kept thinking to myself how great of an idea this is to lay out your goals and dreams right in front of you and put yourself on a roadmap/timeline to get there and achieve those goals and dreams of yours.
Along with motivating women to act confidently and shame-free in pursuit of achieving their goals and dreams, she also provides SO much more useful information just about any part of life in general that are so relatable and so helpful to know for our day to day lives.
I am just now starting her other book, Girl, Wash Your Face, and already I am finding it so inspiring and motivating just as Girl, Stop Apologizing and can’t wait to share more about that book as well when I’m finished! I’m hoping that I can find a good book to read once a month to hopefully share my book reviews on here more often for you all, but for me, if a book is a dud, I just can’t bring myself to finish it.
With that being said, I am now taking some book recommendations from you all! What books have you all read recently that you loved or books that are on your list to read soon? Let me know below, I’d love to know!
