Throughout quarantine, I’ve tried to put myself on a consistent morning routine throughout the week to set the tone for the day and keep myself on a good schedule while staying home. Today I’ll be sharing all the things I do each morning and why mornings have become my favorite part of each day!
One thing I love the most about mornings, especially now getting closer to summer, is spending the beginning of the day sitting out on my patio while drinking my coffee or lemon water. The sound of the birds chirping as the world wakes up is so refreshing and so good for the soul and enjoying some fresh air and sunshine before I start my workday. Fortunately enough, our apartment gets a TON of morning sunlight and it’s the best!
And now moving on to what a typical morning looks like for me:
6:30am-6:45am: Journal + Catch up on the news for the day
7:00am-7:30am: Post on Instagram and spend some time engaging with others
7:30am-8:00am: Get dressed and put on makeup/get ready for the workday + Quick morning walk Charlotte
8:00am-8:30am: Make breakfast/drink coffee or lemon water outside on the patio + take daily vitamin
If you saw in my recent blog post here about things I’ve been doing to help my quarantine anxiety, I’ve recently implemented journaling into my daily routine and is something I look forward to at the beginning and end of each day to set my intentions for the day and reflect and focus on gratitude. I always make time in the mornings to make sure I get that done and things I want to focus on that day to better myself and focus on self-care.
I carve out 30+ minutes of my morning every day to posting on Instagram, engaging with others, catching up on DM’s or blog emails, etc. before I start my day job throughout the day since that’s usually the only time I have for it until about 8-9 hours later when I can start working on it again. This is also something I also look forward to as well each morning to spend some time working on my creative passions before I start my full-time job for the day!
I’ve been fortunate enough to have a job that allows us to work from home during these uncertain times, so I still make the time to actually get ready in the morning – you never know when you’re gonna have to hop on a conference call and still want to look presentable haha! While my daily outfits typically consist of athleisure or loungewear, I always make sure to do my hair and makeup each day as well.
After I’m done getting ready for the day, I like to take my dog, Charlotte, out for a quick 10-minute walk around the apartment (weather permitting) to get my body moving a little bit and get some fresh air before I’m sitting at a computer all-day working.
By 8:00am, I like to fix myself a quick breakfast (usually consisting of frozen waffles with peanut butter) and make myself a cup of coffee or fresh lemon water. I try my best to not get in the habit of drinking coffee every single day, so I will usually go every other day switching off between coffee and lemon water. I recently implemented lemon water into my diet after hearing all the great health benefits drinking lemon water can have and have loved it, it really tastes so good and can do so much for your health! It can improve skin quality, aids digestion, freshens breath, promotes hydration, and so much more. I also take a daily vitamin each morning as well to keep up health alongside my lemon water.
Since I do not have to work on the weekends, my mornings look a little bit different then, but overall implement the same things I do during the week as well, usually just in a different order. My boyfriend and I like to cook breakfast in the mornings on the weekends consisting of pancakes, bacon, and eggs which is always so fun to do together and then sit outside on the patio to eat.
I also typically do my workouts in the mornings on the weekends rather than in the afternoons like I do during the week. My weekends are usually the only time I have to really sit down and work on my blog in depth so I always like to get my workout out of the way in the morning to spend the rest of the day working on my blog, doing some fun weekend activities with my boyfriend and our dog, and keeping up with cleaning the apartment and other adult responsibilities. However, I always make sure to keep up with journaling each and every day, weekends included, and drinking a coffee or lemon water along with my daily vitamin.
