I swear I have what feels like the thinnest hair in the world. The fact that I can wrap my pinky finger around all the hair on my head goes to show just how fine and thin my hair really is. It took me years to find good hair products that applied to my hair type, didn’t leave my hair looking like an oil slick, didn’t leave a film in my hair, etc. My fellow thin-haired girls probably know the struggle. So today I wanted to round up the hair products I use on my hair that leaves my hair feeling healthy and clean, and are so good for fine and thin hair! I’ll be sharing the hair products I use for hair care, hair styling, and washing my hair! All products used are linked at the end. If you are also someone who has fine and thin hair, this post is for you!

1 – DryBar Prep Rally Detangler Spray
I’ve been using this detangler spray for over a month now and I LOVE it, it works so good on my hair and detangles 100x better than any other detangler I’ve used. I actually received this product as a gift for my birthday in July and am so glad I did given it’s my new go-to, so I’ll definitely be buying again once I’m all out! It’s pretty much instant and painless detangling when my hair is wet after showering. Definitely a 10/10 on this detangler spray for thin hair.
Sometimes I like to switch it up between detangler sprays and leave-in conditioners post-shower to try new things every once in a while, and I’ve come to find that leave-in condtioners can also be a great substitute to detangler sprays. This one in particular I think is more for thicker haired girls, however, what I do is just spray this leave-in conditioner toward the ends of my hair rather than my whole head and up near my scalp and actually works really well for repairing heat damage/frizzy hair and makes it very sleek and smooth!
I made the mistake of spraying my whole head with this leave-in conditioner the first time I tried it and it made the top of my head near my scalp pretty greasy looking. So I’d say if you want to use this leave-in conditioner in particular for your fine and thin hair, really only use it on super dry and heat damaged portions of your hair rather than all of it.

3 – It’s a 10 Leave-in Conditioner
This leave in conditioner is another good one and favorite of mine! This is definitely for all hair types and I can always spray this all over my head without having greasy looking scalp after. It detangles really well and keeps my hair looking healthy and hydrated!
4 – EvaNYC 10-in-1 Hair Primer
I was first introduced to this brand, and this product specifically, about two years ago and I have absolutely loved it ever since! This hair primer serves 10 different purposes which is awesome! I typically always use it as my heat protectanct spray before either straightening or curling my hair and it works SO GOOD for thin hair. I’ve tried many other heat protectant sprays in the past that just did not work for my hair type and would leave a film feeling in my hair, and it took me forever to find a good one that worked for me. This one is also pretty inexpensive too!

The one hair product that might be the hardest thing ever for thin-haired girls to really find a good one is dry shampoo! 99.9% of the time it just does not work for us! I follow so many girls on Instagram that talk about going days without washing their hair and just using dry shampoo and that’s just the one thing I just cannot relate to as a girl. If I miss one day of washing my hair it looks like an oil slick and is usually when I have to wear a hat all day and add dry shampoo.
I’ve tried quite a bit of dry shampoos over the years before I realized it just doesn’t work well for my hair. The one dry shampoo that actually works pretty good for my hair type is the LivingProof Dry Shampoo. It smells really good and doesn’t leave a white film on my hair and most of the time can usually make my hair look a bit cleaner when I miss a day of washing my hair. But even then, is definitely not something to rely on and really need to make sure I wash my hair every day.
6 – R+Co Hair Thickening Spray
I was gifted this product when partnering with R+Co a couple months ago and I think it’s such a good product to have being someone with extremely thin hair! The perfect way to add in a little extra volume to make thin hair look thicker!

7 – Aveeno Apple Cider Vinegar Shampoo + Conditioner
Finding the right shampoo and conditioner for my hair type is also something that took years after a lot of trial and error. If you’re a thin-haired girl, my best advice here is to stay away from shampoos that are more of the thick cream and stick to clear shampoos! The thicker cream style of shampoo always left film in my hair and made it feel like I just needed to shower all over again and wash it all out. I’ve been using this Aveeno shampoo and condtioner for over a year and it is my favorite! It smells so good and works so well with my hair type, leaving it feeling really clean, shiny, and healthy.
8 – Gemmist Haircare Shampoo + Conditioner (formerly called Gemma Haircare)
I recently partnered with Gemmist Haircare (formerly known as Gemma Haircare) and this has been another really great option in finding just the right shampoo and condtioner for your exact hair needs! You take a personalized hair quiz and your results determine which shampoo and conditioner you need in order to see the best results. I remember the first time I tried the shampoo and conditioner I was completely blown away with how well it worked! My hair was insanely soft and shiny and just felt so good. If you click this link, you can take the quiz for yourself to determine what shampoo/conditioner is right for you! You can always use my code JUSTKELSCO20 for 20% off too. This code applies for one time purchases and subscription purchases.

9 – Sugarbear Hair Growth Gummy Vitamins
I cannot say enough good things about Sugarbear Hair gummy vitamins. I’ve been using them since college and they have made all the difference with my hair growth. My hair is seriously so weird it will grow out until a certain length and then just stop growing. I take these vitamins daily to help with hair growth and for thickening my hair as well and it really works so good, I cannot recommend it enough.
Something I don’t talk about very often is how insecure I am about my hair. During high school I experienced stress related hair loss and ever since, my hair hasn’t quite been the same. While I do wear hair extensions, my actual hair has really grown a lot over the years and has gotten a bit thicker since taking these vitamins daily. If you’re on the same boat, you need to try these!

One thing that I have yet to find is a good hair mask that won’t make my hair insanely oily. I’ve heard so many good things about using a hair mask to sort of detox and clean out everything from your hair and would love to give it a try sometime. The ones I’ve used in the past gave me results that were completely horrendous, I’ve literally never seen my hair so oily. If you know of a good hair mask for thin hair, drop your recommendations in the comments below!
