2020 has been quite the year. While we are officially entering the most wonderful time of the year to end 2020 on a more positive note, holiday stress is still very real, especially with how different the world is this year. So today I wanted to share some tips and tricks for navigating the holiday season stress-free and how to make the most of it!

Tip #1: Decorate Early
While Christmas is my all-time favorite season ever, I like to enjoy one holiday before skipping ahead to the next and normally don’t get in the Christmas spirit until after Thanksgiving. However, I think we can all agree 2020 needs an extra month of joy and cheer, which is why I encourage you to decorate early if you haven’t already done so! They say people who decorate for Christmas earlier/leave their decorations up longer are overall happier, and I have to say I believe that! My boyfriend and I will actually be decorating our apartment for Christmas this weekend and I am very much looking forward to it – you best believe they tree and decorations will still be up into January too!

Tip #2: Plan Ahead and Start Holiday Shopping Early
Due to the current circumstances, less people will be out and about shopping in retail stores and will be moving more toward online shopping. With that comes shipping delays due to excess orders, and warehouse capacity restrictions due to COVID. But the good news is that a lot of retailers are extending their Black Friday/holiday sale deals so you can really take advantage of the deals, shop early, and shop for everyone on your list this year ahead of time in order for things to arrive in time for Christmas and to be ahead of the game even before December officially begins.

Tip #3: Have a Self Care Night (or multiple!)
Unplug from social media, turn on a Hallmark Christmas movie, bake Christmas cookies, listen to Christmas music, do all the things you need to do to feel like your best self and fully unwind and relax – it really does wonders for your mental health!

Tip #4: Make the Time for Virtual Events with Family/Friends
Get dressed up and have a virtual happy hour with friends or family or a virtual Christmas movie watch party. After living in leggings practically all year this year, I look for any excuse to dress up and feel human again, this is the perfect way to do that and show off your latest holiday style!
While the whole ‘virtual social activities’ thing may feel a bit old by now, COVID is still very real, especially during the winter time and virtual events are still a great way to reconnect with family and friends and have some fun and keep holiday traditions alive, even though it may look different this year.

Tip #5: Drive Through a Nearby Neighborhood to See the Holiday Lights
Find a cute neighborhood nearby that is all decorated for Christmas and drive through it to see all the holiday lights and decorations! We always love doing this each year, and 2020 is the absolute perfect year to do this! We especially love the houses that tune their Christmas lights to the radio station and always love to watch the light show while listening to Christmas classics.
How do you reduce holiday stress? I’d love to know!
