If you have not been to Valley of Fire State Park, I highly recommend adding it to your list the next time you’re in the Las Vegas area! We visited Valley of Fire on our recent Southwest road trip and the scenery was just so stunning, not to mention it also makes for an amazing photoshoot location.
Today I wanted to round up some photos I was able to get at Valley of Fire and some locations where you can get beautiful photos at the park as well. Although pretty much all of it is photo-worthy in my opinion, just such a dream of a location!

Valley of Fire State Park is a little over a 45-minute drive from downtown Las Vegas/The Strip, located in Overton, Nevada, and is a beautiful state park filled with its red sandstone formations, small hiking trails, and beautiful views. And like most state parks, the entry fees are very affordable being only $10 for NV vehicles and $15 for out-of-state vehicles.
Since we recently visited the park in September, Nevada is still pretty hot at this time of year and we were definitely roasting with it being about 95+ degrees out, especially in the middle of the desert. If you are visiting the park during Nevada’s hot months, always remember to pack sunscreen and plenty of water with you!

Some of the best places to capture photos at Valley of Fire are:
- Mouse Tank Road (probably the most iconic spot in the park for photos)
- Mouse Tank Trail
- The Beehives
- Arch Rock
- Elephant Rock
- ‘Greetings from Valley of Fire State Park’ Entrance Sign

We had actually missed a couple of others that we had heard were noteworthy as well like Seven Sisters, Balanced Rock, Rainbow Vista, Pink Pastel Canyon, and Slot Canyon but hope to stop at those next time! There really are so many amazing landmarks to see in the park which in the grand scheme of things is not very big compared to others which is truly amazing!
We also saw some wildlife like rams and coyotes! The park is home to a couple of others as well like desert tortoises, Gila monsters, rattlesnakes, and much more.
