Ever since I entered my 20s, I immediately started to take my skincare routine more seriously, and is now something I swear by and don’t go a day without doing, plus is always a great way to start and end the day with a little additional self-care. My skincare routine typically stays the same year-round, with a couple of adjustments during the winter to accommodate for how dry my skin can get this time of year.

My number one Winter skincare must-have is hands down the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask. It’s a bit more on the pricy side but is easily the skincare product I can’t live without during this cold and dry time of year, plus I just love the aesthetic of the packaging. I was so hesitant to purchase it at first because of the price tag, but after seeing so many people rave about it on social media, I was definitely influenced to try it and so glad I did. Honestly, the way I justify it is that skincare is always worth the investment, because it really is.
Ever since I entered my 20s, I knew I needed to start taking better care of my skin as I started to see the effects of all those years growing up I’d go out in the sun without sunscreen, which is so cringe-worthy for me now! Even if that means the occasional splurge on products that will really help your skin with whatever feature of your skin you’re looking to improve or take extra care of in the long run.
What makes the Summer Fridays Jeg Lag Mask so worth the investment is all the great benefits you get from it. It’s an enhanced, fragrance-free cream you can use as either a nightly mask or daytime moisturizer that helps nourish, hydrate, and calm the skin and is made with niacinamide, glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and antioxidants that are meant to leave your skin looking renewed and radiant. It’s meant for stressed, tired, and thirsty skin, which pretty much sums up my skin this time of year especially.
Plus it has lasted me a long time already even after daily use and really doesn’t require much to apply – a little goes a long way for this product which I love!

My number two skincare product is a good retinol cream or serum for anti-aging purposes. I love this one from Bliss in particular and is a part of my daily routine. Retinol is fairly new in my skincare routine, within the last year or so is when I started to take it more seriously. If you’re unfamiliar with retinol, its main purpose is to reduce fine lines and wrinkles by increasing the production of collagen in your skin. Some other purposes include fading age spots, softening rough skin patches, and overall improving skin color.
Retinol can also be a bit harsh on your skin for how intense of a product it is which is why I pair it hand in hand with the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask to improve my overall skin quality and make sure I’m taking good care of my skin. It’s also important to recognize that limiting sun exposure on your face will also help dramatically with anti-aging, especially when used together with retinol. I make sure to wear sunscreen on my face daily, even in the Wintertime, as I use retinol daily.

I’m also someone who loves to self-tan year-round, even in the Winter. I can’t handle it when my skin gets extremely pale and pasty and need a tan ASAP. While I love so many different kinds of self-tanners, I will typically only stick with self-tan lotions or creams in the Winter because of the extra hydration they can provide over tanning mousse or spray.
I’ve talked about it before in a blog post here, but I just have to rave about it again because the Lux Unfiltered Hydrating Self-Tanning Cream is definitely the best one I’ve tried and is so hydrating for my dry Winter skin. It’s a super natural-looking tan and isn’t too dark or orange to make it look unnatural. It’s the perfect amount of color to provide my skin that extra little glow and avoid that pasty Winter skin I get each year.

Some other products in my skincare routine I use weekly include a good serum (Vitamin C serum especially!), exfoliating mask, body acne spray, and of course a jade roller. I will typically only use these products as needed throughout the week but is not something I will use every single day.
