Welcome back to my channel!

In today's vlog, I take you along on my solo trip to NYC! While I've visited New York a couple times in the past, this was my first time traveling solo. I was absolutely terrified to book this trip on my own and definitely pushed myself out of my comfort zone by doing so, but it ended up being one of the best experiences, and honestly did a TON for my own personal self-growth and independence. I felt like I came back home a new person and am so so thankful that I was able to do this for myself! As I had visited the city a couple times and have done a lot of the touristy things in the past, my main goal for this trip was to "live a day in the life of a New Yorker" and I'd say the trip did just that.

I stayed at the Arlo SoHo hotel and it was the perfect choice for my solo trip - the hotel room was the perfect size for one person, and the hotel was in a great location close to the West Village, Tribeca, and downtown with lots of restaurant options within walking distance. It was also in a pretty quiet part of SoHo and I felt super safe when venturing out and around the area of my hotel which was definitely appreciated as I navigated the city on my own.

If you're on the fence about solo travel, my best advice is to just go for it! This experience has really made me want to do solo travel more now that I am more comfortable with it. NYC is also a great place for your first solo travel experience! I mention in the vlog and I am mentioning here, just be smart about it and be more aware of your surroundings. Some things to know when traveling to NYC solo:
1) Bring cash - some places/transportation only require cash so it's always nice to have some on hand in these instances
2) Wear/pack walking shoes!!
3) Wear a backpack/tote bag around the city and carry a portable phone charger with you
4) Act confident like you know where you're going, even if you don't
5) Avoid making eye contact with people on the streets (wearing sunglasses helps)
6) Avoid going out at night/once it gets dark out or stay with a larger group of people if so
7) Don't go down any side streets
8) Be aware of your surroundings

Welcome back to my channel!

In today's vlog, I take you along on our recent trip to Palm Springs! This trip was incredibly special for a number of reasons, one being it was my first time back on an airplane in 3 years because of the pandemic, it was both of our first times visiting Palm Springs and we went down to celebrate Josh's birthday, and the weather was absolutely incredible + the area is so beautiful and I absolutely fell in love with it!!

We stayed at the Westin Rancho Mirage which I highly recommend if you're looking for a place to stay in the area. The resort has just about everything you'll need (restaurants, coffee shop, outdoor activities like tennis courts, golf course, basketball courts, bikes to rent, a number of pools to choose from, a spa, arcade/bowling alley, and so much more) and was so stunning all around!

We both personally enjoyed staying in Rancho Mirage and it's only about a 15-20 minute drive away from Palm Springs so it was very easy to head into PS for dinner most nights and explore downtown. It was also about an hour away from Joshua Tree National Park which we were so excited to finally check off our bucket list, it's a pretty cool place! Some of our favorite spots to visit within the park were Hidden Valley, Keys View (which on a clear day you can see Mexico from!), and the Cholla Cactus Garden. There are also so many spots you can pull off on and wander a bit to take some cute pics.

Some places/restaurants I recommend checking out in the greater Palm Springs area:
- Village Fest (downtown Palm Springs street fair every Thursday night!) - I bought some cute ear cuffs at a booth called Cathy's Cuffs - lots of cute ear accessories!
- Las Casuelas Terraza (one of the best Mexican restaurants I've been to and such a fun setting!)
- Palm Springs Aerial Tramway (pack a coat because the temperature changes significantly from the bottom once you get to the top, about a 40-50 degree difference)
- Joshua Tree National Park
- The Saguaro Palm Springs (cute spot to take pics)
- The iconic house with the pink door (located at 1100 East Sierra Way)

I was very impressed with how many restaurants there were to choose from in downtown Palm Springs as well and honestly, would have loved to stay longer just to try out more of what they have to offer!

Today's vlog marks the final vlog in my southwest road trip series vlogs! On day 7, we made the long 13-hour drive from Las Vegas, NV up to Diamond Lake, OR and it was such an exhausting day full of driving. We also learned that Nevada is just full of a whole lot of nothing (like rarely any towns to stop and get gas either when driving up the state) but cool to see since we most likely won't be doing that drive again. We then drove through Northern California and up into Oregon. Our goal was to make it to Klamath Falls, OR (which we did, and all the hotels in town ended up being booked, so we had to drive an extra hour up to Diamond Lake where we found a hotel for the night).

We started our adventures on day 8 exploring Crater Lake National Park in Oregon before finally driving back home to Seattle and made a quick pitstop in Eugene, OR at the University of Oregon for lunch.

Thanks for tuning into the road trip series! This vacation was definitely one of the best I've ever been on and checked off so much from the bucket list and created some of the best memories.

Southwest Road Trip Vlog | Day 7-8 | Driving Home to Seattle + Adventures in Oregon

Welcome back to my channel!

In today's vlog, I continue my southwest road trip series with our adventures from day 6! We spent the day in the greater Las Vegas area by traveling to Valley of Fire State Park (seriously such a stunning place!!) then over to Hoover Dam (my first time there!) then back to our hotel in Vegas for the night. We walked over to TopGolf then went shopping around The Strip and got gelato because we literally saw gelato places everywhere we went around The Strip while we were in Vegas, we knew we had to stop at least once while we were there. This was another fun and laid-back day around Vegas seeing places we had never seen before and just having loose plans.

Southwest Road Trip Vlog | Day 6 | Las Vegas

Welcome back to my channel!

In today's vlog, I continue my southwest road trip series with our adventures from day 5! This was probably the most "relaxing" day of our vacation and we didn't have any plans other than to wander around the Strip and chill by the pool, which was much needed after the busy few days we had exploring national parks in the Southwest. We stayed at the Elara by Hilton Grand Vacations which is the perfect central location on the Las Vegas strip. It's actually located just off the Strip where you're not actually on it, but close enough to walk to it and see it out your hotel room window. I've stayed at this hotel before when visiting Vegas and is personally one of my favorites! It connects to the Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile Shops as well that takes you right to the Strip, so it's definitely the perfect central location. I also wanted to mention that Las Vegas is doing a great job of following mask mandates and we felt very comfortable and safe mask-wise wandering around the Strip and walking through all the hotels and casinos.

Southwest Road Trip Vlog | Day 5 | Las Vegas

Welcome back to my channel!

In today's vlog, I continue my southwest road trip series with our adventures from day 4! On day 4, we started our day bright and early at Zion National Park in Utah to hike Angels Landing and part of The Narrows, made our way over to Bryce Canyon National Park, and then finally ended the day in Las Vegas.

*The Angels Landing hike is not an easy one, and, if you do the entire thing, can be a bit scary at the top. Angels Landing is about a 5-mile hike roundtrip but is VERY steep and has a ton of switchbacks. It is known for its “Hogsback” which is essentially a steep and narrow stone pathway pretty much like walking on a cliffside in which you hold on to chains the whole way on the Hogsback so you don’t fall off. If you have a fear of heights, DO NOT do this portion of the hike! I have a huge fear of heights and just looking at the Hogsback freaked me out, but the good news is you can still do the Angels Landing hike and I promise you, you will not be the only one not doing the Hogsback portion of the hike when you get to the top.

We were also not able to do the full Narrows hike as there were some bacteria in the water but we were still able to see a lot of it and do the trail portion of the hike rather than walking through the shallow water.

Southwest Road Trip Vlog | Day 4 | Utah + Las Vegas

In today's vlog, I continue my southwest road trip series with our adventures from day 3! On day 3, we drove from Blanding, UT across the Arizona border to Monument Valley, Horseshoe Bend, and the Grand Canyon, and eventually back to Utah for the night for day 4's adventures.

One thing to note in particular about Horseshoe Bend is that upon arrival to the park, the main overlook is a 1.5-mile round trip walk. It can look so deceiving when you first get there, you're practically wondering where you're walking to or even wondering if you're in the right place, and then Horsehoe Bend just shows up out of nowhere, and it's so beautiful!! We also encountered some wildlife on our drive to the Grand Canyon North Rim which was super cool!
